Reporting mechanical defects

DO NOT RIDE ANY BIKE YOU BELIEVE MAY HAVE A PROBLEM

  • Place the bike in a designated freewheels™ station location stand.  Note the bike ID number and location.

  • Call freewheels™ at (609) 452-8988 between the hours of 8:30AM to 4:00PM Monday-Friday or tma@gmtma.org to report it.

  • Give the bicycle ID number, date and station location where you left it parked.

Don't Worry...

You will not be charged for repairs --

remember, this is a totally FREE program.

Always exercise good judgement and common sense while riding any bicycle.

Always remember safety first!

Bicycle safety must be your utmost concern whether you're riding your own bicycle or the freewheels bicycles.  Please familiarize yourself with these basic bicycle safety guidelines before you ride.
You can also call Greater Mercer TMA for a complete copy of bicycle safety rules and related bicycle information.

"Rules of the road"

Use proper hand signals for turning or stopping.

Safety.tif (5379306 bytes)

Give the right-of-way to pedestrians
Increase your distance when following behind a truck or bus (Remember, if you can not see their rearview mirrors, the driver can not see you either!).   The area behind a truck is a blind spot for you and the driver.
Bear right when you see a truck or bus traveling toward you in the opposite direction.  This helps reduce wind turbulence and the threat of sideswipes.
Pay very careful attention to what is happening around you.   Watch out for opening vehicle doors.
Signal your intentions when making turns and changing lanes.
Keep right.  Ride in a single file with traffic.
Protect yourself when visibility is low with reflective clothing.  freewheels™ bicycles are equipped with reflectors but are not recommended for night use.
Bicycling is a great way to travel and exercise, but remember a bicycle is a vehicle and subject to the same traffic laws as other vehicles.

Bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as motorists.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
