Bus Rapid Transit, or BRT, combines the quality service associated with rail travel with the flexibility of buses for a new commute experience. It uses new technologies to improve customer convenience and reduce delay. Greater Mercer TMA completed a concept study to explore how BRT might work on the Route 1 Corridor. The study outlines two service plans, suggests routes and station locations, and lists next steps. For a summary, click below.

The Central Jersey Forum and NJTRANSIT have also looked into BRT as an option on the Rt. 1 Corridor. Preliminary findings from all of these efforts show that BRT has the potential for success and warrants further investigation. An alternatives analysis to refine and evaluate these concepts is now underway by NJ TRANSIT . Call us at 609-452-1491 or go to the study website for more information.
